Turbocharged by the Corona crisis and lockdown, we’re switching our workshops to entirely online delivery, so browse on down for dates for our two-day courses, all with EMDR Association UK CPD points.
There are two versions of the Unleash workshop, both with full facilitated pair- and triad-work and the opportunity seriously to practise new, focused skills in case conceptualisation, target identification and focused session structure.
Unleash Part 1 takes you through the basics of advanced, attachment-informed EMDR.
Unleash Part 2, also two days, takes you deeper and further, as the title suggests, into working with dreams, parts, couples and intergenerational trauma.
Venue: Online, on Zoom.
Cost: £295 (note that this includes VAT, full facilitation of dyads/triads & workshop materials).

About these workshops
Each two-day UK workshop, following our first, still experimental but highly successful online version in April 2020, has 12 EMDR Association UK CPD Points applied for.
In the light of Corona, these workshops also provide a unique opportunity to learn, at warp-speed, how to deliver EMDR online, with full facilitation of triads using Zoom’s online breakout rooms facility.
In these advanced trainings in integrative, attachment-informed EMDR, Mark Brayne teaches ways to work with the most complex clients, with tight focus on case conceptualisation and offering profound understanding of how childhood developmental issues play into most adult presentations in psychotherapy.
Unleash Part 1 takes you through the essential attachment-informed focus on case conceptualisation that will transform how you work with clients – asking yourself from the very beginning, “How did this person get to be this way, and therefore, where do we need to go in EMDR?”
With a strong and explicit emphasis on safety and powerful, richly imaginal resources, we get quickly and efficiently to the nub of how to change the way our clients experience themselves in the world now. Which, after all, is why they came into therapy in the first place.
Uniquely we believe (for the moment) in advanced EMDR training in the UK, we give you the space, especially and even online, to practise these new skills in full and for real, with detailed support from our experienced (and friendly!) team of EMDR Focus facilitators.
Unleash Part 2 refreshes those basic attachment-informed skills, adding powerful and often deeply moving approaches to addressing intergenerational trauma stories our clients are carrying from their parents, cultures and collective histories, learning also how to use EMDR with dreams, ego states and parts, and couples.
These workshops are open to therapists already familiar with basic EMDR protocols (and trained to at least Level 3/4), and built around full live demonstrations (yes, even online!) of using EMDR with attachment-informed traumas, with teaching, discussion and full facilitated practicums as both therapist and client.
- Attachment-informed case conceptualisation, and the importance of understanding and working with attachment in addressing the root causes of most client presentations
- The use of creative imagination in the effective resourcing of even the most complex clients
- The proactive use of bridging/floatback to identify developmental targets most likely to deliver change in a client’s current life
- A wide range of imaginal and creative interweaves to facilitate client healing in accordance with the principles of Adaptive Information Processing
- The importance and value of session structure when working with childhood trauma and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
- And, in Unleash your EMDR Part 2, to working intuitively with intergenerational trauma, dreams, ego states/parts and couples.
(Please note that we spend only a short time on the science, theory or practice of attachment in general, emphasising rather how EMDR can be brought to bear on presenting distress that has roots in a client’s early attachment experience. All attendees are expected to have already a functioning basic knowledge of attachment theory.)
Mark Brayne’s own research into Dr Laurel Parnell’s AF-EMDR, presented at the March 2018 London conference of the EMDR Association UK & Ireland, drew on returns from nearly 90 AF-EMDR-trained therapists and nearly 50 clients treated with this approach, and highlighted the value and power of working in this way with more complex presentations.
Mark’s passion for working in an attachment-informed way is inspiring and his depth of knowledge immense. I believe this training will revolutionise my EMDR practice with clients.
Really will make a huge difference to my work and understanding myself. EMDR now fits in to my model and I can relate to it so much more.
The teaching on integrative EMDR was incredibly valuable and has had an immediate impact on my practice with very powerful effects.
My enthusiasm for EMDR has been re-vitalised completely. The novel use of technology was done skillfully and it worked very well indeed.
Really nice handouts, clear and well reproduced. The protocol was particularly well designed all on one side of A4. The style was friendly and approachable with lots of visual content. It felt generous and made me very happy to have all these measures available in one pack.
Mark is the best trainer I have come across. He exudes expertise, is engaging, compassionate – and I would even use the word “gifted”- at what he does. For me, EMDR has come to life!
It was just the most incredible weekend, absolutely life-changing personally and professionally. It has changed and shaped my EMDR practice for ever more. Thank you!
Mark’s creative approach to Attachment-Focused EMDR brings clarity and focus to working with the root causes of trauma, and the demonstration session was very inspiring.
It was a wonderful and inspiring weekend – learning on so many levels, and this approach certainly expands the possibilities for EMDR within psychotherapy.
These workshops include full, in-depth and live demonstrations on both training days of advanced EMDR with a real personal issue. This can be a very powerful experience, both for the group and for the volunteers kindly offering themselves to work openly this way.
