Annabel McGoldrick is Training Facilitator with EMDR Focus, specialising in Attachment-Focused EMDR, and runs a thriving full time EMDR psychotherapy practice in Central Oxford whilst teaching part-time at the University of Sydney in Australia.
She spent almost eight years Down Under running her own private clinical psychotherapy practice, whilst completing her doctoral thesis, teaching at the University of Sydney and working in a psychiatric hospital.
Annabel is an Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and an EMDR Australia Accredited Consultant
Annabel has a PhD from the Sydney University’s Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies (CPACS), where she’s a part time lecturer in peace psychology and peace journalism.
She’s an experienced practitioner having spent several years running group work for families in crisis at Australia’s leading trauma and addiction treatment centre, South Pacific Private Hospital, Sydney, Australia.
Annabel has a Masters degree in Psychotherapy & Counselling, having spent 16 years working with clients on issues including post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, addiction, phobias, Attention Deficit Disorder, self-harming, relationships and bereavement.
Like Mark and Jutta at EMDR Focus, Annabel trained in transpersonal psychotherapy at the CCPE in London, taking a multi-disciplinary approach to offer an individual therapy to an individual client. Her other professional life was as a journalist – most recently on SBS World News Australia – and a trainer and lecturer.
She regularly teaches at Sydney University on issues of trauma, conflict and peace journalism. She has been happily married for a quarter of a century, and lives in Oxford (and Oz) with her husband and teenage son.
