I became interested in psychological therapies during my role as Community Mental Health Nurse in 2005.   Initially I obtained the Diploma in Person Centred Counselling, but then moved on to developing my Cognitive Behavioural Therapy skills and then naturally onto EMDR.

Working in Secondary mental health services I soon became aware that many of my clients had experienced trauma.  Most of the trauma they experienced was during their childhood and adolescence but the effects of the trauma has remained with them as adults.

I first became aware of Laurel Parnell’s work via my supervisor at the time, who advised me to get several of Laurel’s books.  I read them avidly and used her teachings and insights to help my clients.  I signed up for the first workshop in London in 2013, I saw her again in 2015 and again in 2017.

She is truly inspirational.  Her teachings have been invaluable in my work and has enabled me to work with some challenging and distressed clients.
