Terms and Conditions for being an ai-EMDR group member – please read in full
This group brings together discussion of leading-edge, innovative, best-practice EMDR.
It is open to EMDR therapists who wish to explore frontline EMDR — enhancing and deepening an open exchange of ideas and experience among those trained in both traditional and modified approaches to EMDR protocols.
It is not a group for clients, EMDR or otherwise.
Group principles and expectations
1. Purpose and scope
This group focuses on the practice and training of EMDR.
It is particularly intended for colleagues who have undertaken explicitly attachment-informed EMDR CPD in addition to their basic training, but is also open to others who place the stories of attachment and formative experience at the heart of their EMDR work.
The group welcomes therapists who are keen to innovate, to deepen their understanding of EMDR, and to help take the field forward.
Discussions should centre on clinical practice, supervision, research, or professional development.
Workshops and events being run by members and specifically related to EMDR may be shared here, whether commercial or charitable/no cost. This is not a forum for other forms of advertising, for self-promotion or unrelated commentary.
2. Professional conduct
All colleagues should feel safe to share and explore ideas here.
Members are asked to keep the tone of all contributions respectful, thoughtful, and professional.
Honest and robust debate is welcome, but consider carefully how your words may be received.
If comments might be experienced as personal criticism, members are asked to contact the original poster privately before messaging the whole group.
3. Confidentiality and client material
Client material may only be shared with explicit written permission, stated clearly when posting.
Identifying details must be masked to ensure full confidentiality.
Be aware that clients processing early childhood material are often in young ego states and may not be able to give informed consent.
4. Boundaries and content
Discussion about individuals and their competence is not permitted.
Do not post about the operations of training or accrediting organisations that are not primarily concerned with EMDR.
The group exists to deepen understanding of EMDR, not to promote personal, ideological, or partisan positions.
It is not a space for political debate or advocacy unrelated to EMDR practice.
5. Moderation and compliance
Providing these guidelines are respected and observed, colleagues are welcome to post directly to the group.
If the moderator senses at any point that the guardrails are being breached, the colleague sharing that post will be notified and moderation at least temporarily reinstated for that individual. The moderator will follow up any such moment with a personal note to explain why.
Members who continue to violate these rules will be (and have been) removed.
6. Joining and membership updates
If you are reading these lines with a view to joining the group, please include a brief note about your EMDR training level and any attachment-informed EMDR workshops attended.
If you need to change your email address, please request membership with the new address. The old one will then be removed.
