In these advanced trainings in integrative, advanced and transpersonal EMDR for  attachment-informed complexity, Mark Brayne teaches ways to work with the most challenging clients.

We bring special focus to case conceptualisation and target identification, with what might be termed radical curiosity around how childhood developmental issues play into adult distress.

The workshops provide a unique opportunity to learn, at warp-speed and building on everything you were introduced to on your basic EMDR training, how to deliver powerful EMDR online, with full facilitation of triad practicums using Zoom’s online breakout rooms.

(NB – June and September workshops in 2023 will include Mark presenting in recorded form, with the EMDR Focus team running the discussions and triads).

Unleash Part 1 takes you through the essential attachment-informed focus on case conceptualisation that will transform how you work with clients – asking yourself from the very beginning, “How did this person get to be this way?” and flowing from that, “Where do we need to go in EMDR?”

With a strong and explicit emphasis on safety, and on powerful, richly imaginal resources, we get quickly and efficiently to the nub of how to shift the way our clients experience themselves in the world now.

Which, after all, is why they came into therapy in the first place.

Uniquely we believe (for the moment) in advanced EMDR training in the UK, we give you the space, online, to practise these new skills in full and for real, with detailed support from our experienced (and friendly) team of EMDR Focus facilitators.

Running since 2017, our EMDR Focus workshops are open to therapists already familiar with basic EMDR protocols (and trained to at least UK Level 3/4 or US/Australia/NZ Level 2).

Workshops are built around live demonstrations of online AI-EMDR, including teaching, discussion and full facilitated practicums as both therapist and client.

In these pandemic times, we have switched to entirely online delivery of our popular Unleash Your EMDR workshops, with full facilitated triad work and the opportunity seriously to practise new, focused skills in case conceptualisation, target identification and session structure.

This page sets out the details of our Unleash your EMDR – Release the Magic Part 1 workshop, covering the fundamentals of advanced attachment-informed EMDR for complex trauma, with 12 EMDR Association UK CPD points, and now also approved by EMDRIA in North America with 12 CE points (see the boxes on the right for individual program approval numbers).

Recordings for those registered will be available for one month following the workshop, and as long as anything missed is viewed within that time frame, the certificates will count for UK Association purposes.

Note that if you view materials online only, we cannot issue formal EMDR UK or EMDRIA certificates, as the facilitated, live practicums are an essential part of the workshop. These are not recorded.

Take a close look at the various different timings, pitched at the UK and the US as well as at Australia/NZ.

More details further down the page, where you’ll also find a booking form. Please check your chosen workshop dates before you submit.

With help from Stripe, and depending on your choices, you will be taken either to a payment page or will receive an email confirming your other request.

Let us know if you have problems.

  • Phase 1: Attachment-informed case conceptualisation, and the importance of understanding and working with attachment in addressing the root causes of most client presentations.
  • Phase 2: The use of rich and creative imagination in the effective resourcing of even the most complex clients.
  • Phase 3a: The proactive use of bridging/floatback to identify developmental targets most likely to deliver change in a client’s current life.
  • Phase 3b: How best and most appropriately to activate those targets, whether with EMDR’s Standard Protocol Image/ NC/ PC/ VoC/ Emotions/ SUDs/ Body, or with Parnell’s Modified sequence of Image/ Emotion/ Body/ Belief, or with the Blind to Therapist approach, or indeed with Jim Knipe’s Levels of Urge, Urge to Avoid, Level of Positive Affect etc.
  • Phase 4: Processing and rewiring the past with an appropriately wide range of attachment-informed imaginal and creative interweaves to facilitate client healing in accordance with the principles of Adaptive Information Processing.
  • And then Phases 3-7+8: The critical importance and value of session structure when working safely and effectively with the impact of developmental deficits in our clients’ formative childhood years.

Mark, you are SO good at what you do, and I think I will be longing to be half as good as you for years to come. Thank you for imparting your wisdom and knowledge to us so we can at least try to get there!

The PowerPoint was very well-done, informative, and engaging; the content itself was extraordinary. I don’t think I ever once zoned out – you had my full attention the whole time!

I believe the Attachment-Informed version of EMDR is a game-changer, and I think if I had been using it earlier with some of my clients, I would have seen better results much sooner. I look back on some “flopped” EMDR attempts with clients and think AI-EMDR is just what I needed, so I’m grateful to have it now.

The role plays were amazing and inspiring. They helped bring all of the information together, solidify it, and show nuances. The volunteers were also so vulnerable and courageous, which really helped with the learning process.

This was probably the best CPD I’ve done. Mark is such a fantastic trainer.

He has such a lovely, calm, respectful and compassionate manner that makes you feel safe.

I loved the slides (compliments to your illustrator!) They really brought the ideas to life.

And fantastic, insightful and supportive contributions from Jutta too.

The music back in from the break was genius and it was all managed and ran so well.

Your training is so good and so thorough, it’s like having the full training again, with extra. I love how it keeps to one central concept rather than reinventing techniques for different diagnoses.

I have been using everything I’ve learned and already am starting to see this make an incredible difference. It also reinforced for me that as a learner I really need that experiential element to consolidate what I learn by reading.

Mark and team create an immediately and incredibly trusting and safe environment in which to work. This enables vulnerabilities to come forth and realise effective work from the get go.

One of the most powerful and valuable courses I have experienced.

Mark’s enthusiasm for EMDR, and his love of teaching, which is clearly a passion for him, is infectious and what makes training with him so enjoyable and leaves you wanting more!

A fabulous combination of theory and practice, professionalism and warmth, seriousness and humour … all of which made for a brilliant learning environment. Skilfully done, thank you!

Mark’s passion for working in an attachment-informed way is inspiring and his depth of knowledge immense. The quality of the written materials provided is excellent.

It was an incredible weekend, with so much amazing knowledge delivered so compassionately. It has completely transformed how I approach my EMDR sessions and given me the ability to reach an entirely new level of healing with my clients. Genuinely transformative and magical.

These workshops include full, in-depth and live demonstrations of EMDR with real personal issues. This can be a very powerful experience, both for the group and for the volunteer kindly offering themselves to work openly this way.

Participants are invited to work in triads on similarly real issues, using the tools of attachment-informed EMDR, and this too can go surprisingly deep.

While we find that participants value this opportunity, both as therapist and client, the experience can be triggering.

For our part, we commit to doing our best to keep the training safe and contained.

We correspondingly ask participants to take responsibility for their own responses, and to remain at all times open and respectful towards the processes and learnings that will unfold as the workshops proceed.

You will of course have the opportunity to decline to bring personal issues to the practicum, but for your own sake and that of others on the workshop, please do allow space for a willingness to be vulnerable, as well as to be bold.

By registering for an EMDR Focus workshop, and recognising that participation can involve both observation and personal experience of sometimes profound trauma processing, participants agree to take appropriate responsibility for their own emotional wellbeing.

They also are expected to have in place access to any necessary therapeutic and/or supervisory support following the workshop.

If you need to cancel up to six weeks before the workshop, we will refund your fee minus a 10% handling charge. After that, refunds will be at the discretion of EMDR Focus.

Venue: Online, on Zoom.

ALL £456 (sum defined in GBP, but payable at the relevant daily rate in local currency.)

Note that these prices, comparable to basic EMDR training, include appropriate taxes, full facilitation of triad work as well as workshop materials.
